Congregation Netivot Shalom is based in Berkeley, California and began in 1989 as an egalitarian spiritual home for Conservative/Masorti Jews. Congregation Netivot Shalom says, “We are members who are Jewish and not, Jews-by-choice, interfaith families, multiracial, multicultural, married, single, families and individuals, LGBTQ, straight, old, and young. We explicitly recognize and cherish each other as teachers and students.”

Congregation Netivot Shalom has a number of different committees that are focused on a number of social justice and environmental justice issues. The Congregation's Antiracism Initiative is a “community-wide project rooted in the question, ‘What does it mean to be an antiracist synagogue?’” The Climate Tzedek committee helps engage the Congregation’s community to address climate change and promotes environmental justice while the Gemilut Hasadim committee provides meals, rides, visits and more to members that are in need.

Going Solar with RE-volv

By going solar with RE-volv, Congregation Netivot Shalom will save more than $422,000 off the cost of their electricity bill over the life of their solar system, which is money that the Congregation can invest back into their mission. Overtime, as Congregation Netivot Shalom pays back RE-volv for the cost of their solar system, their Solar Lease payments will be invested into RE-volv’s Solar Seed Fund, a revolving fund for solar used to help bring solar to nonprofits across the country. At the end of the 20-year Solar Lease, Congregation Netivot Shalom will own their solar system.
